Top 10

Top 10 for the Week:
February 10th, 2014

10. Winter Blues.  We've had enough of the snow.  Really.  I mean the warmer temperatures are MUCH more manageable.  We can at least go out and get some fresh air.  Which we do on a regular basis.  But this SNOW has really got to go.  I'm tired of it!

9.  Sniffles.  Our kids are starting a cold.  Not cool.  Day 2 of runny noses.  First cold of the season.

8.  Naptime Crazy.  I really struggled one day to get the kids down for a nap (Mal really only rests but will nap on a RARE occasion).  It went on for nearly an hour, but I was not giving up.  I knew he desperately  needed one.  A lot of leading him back into bed, a little yelling (patience was warn), and lots of trying to get things just right--and he finally fell asleep!  I told Mal to hang out in her room until I was through with him.  And low and behold--she fell asleep herself!  Both slept about 1 1/2 hours!  I was shocked!  But it was a nice little break:o)

7.  Grocery Store Madness.  As a family, we shopped.  Crazy.  Totally craziness.  And we are doing it again today (pray for us).  BUT I love the fact that when I look down into our cart I see mostly produce.  Before, I would see boxes, plastic bags, cans, and other processed foods.  We have changed our eating habits drastically in the last year.  And I am proud of where we are now.  It makes a difference.  A HUGE difference.

6. Valentine's Day Party.  Everyone once and awhile something will remind me of how our life was before I became a SAHM.  Friday was one.  IF I was working, I would not have been able to attend Miss Mallory's Valentine's Day party.  See her smile, get excited over ice cream sundaes, and enjoy her friends.  Makes me SO glad about our decision.  And thankful for this time I now have with my kids.

5.  Chiro.  It had been 8 weeks--TWO months--since I had been.  Between my headaches, arm, just not feeling right, and back pain, I was SO ecstatic to finally get in and get adjusted!  Everything is back to normal and makes me realize how much I DO need this in my life.

4. Valentine's Day Out.  Our babysitter was busy on the actual Valentine's Day so Jay and I headed out to dinner on Saturday.  A great dinner at Wood Fire.  Delicious food!  Casino afterwards was a dud.  But we enjoyed ourselves.  AND we didn't have to put the kids to bed!  Which is a HUGE perk!

3.  Clayisms.  Mr.  Goofy.  And friendly.  Seriously.  I watch as Jay continues to laugh at him.  And I try and warn him that if he laughs, he'll continue to do funny stuff.  The kids makes putting on his snow pants and boots a riot!  How does that happen?!?!  He is obsessed with our phones and Ipads right now.  I will catch him on one on beds, in the play room, or other little places.  Hiding.  He also loves baths and refuses to get out of them.  I have to walk away, with the water gone, and the lights off, and wait for him to finally come out--with his towel and clothes.  A lover of toys in his bed when he's sleeping.  Books on him when he finally passes out.  A cuddler when he wakes up from his naps or in the morning.  Almost always a smile on his face--an all around happy kid.

2.  Malloryisms.  Oh Mal.  It was quite the week of sayings!  Here we go:

*"The roof of my mouth tickles."  (She's discovered if you touch the top of your mouth, it tickles).
*"You're my favorite friend."  (Referring to me!  Yes! Can you believe that?!?!).
*"Is it okay if I twinkle my toes?"  (She meant to say wiggle...lying with me on the couch).
* "Just keep doing and doing it until you get it right."  (Buckling herself in her booster.  Good words to motivate!)
*"Can she see us?"  (Referring to Chalean in my workout video as we worked out together! Ha!)
*"Was Daddy in your class when you met him?"  (Ummmm...NO!)
*"He had sparkly eyes when he met you." (Really?!?!)
*"When are we going to leave?  The car can't drive itself."  (She wasn't saying it in a smart way.  But really?!?!)
*"You are the one that planned all this stuff."  (As I was telling them how hectic of a day we had).

She definitely is keeping me on my toes and it really surprises me the things that come out of her mouth.  I was proud of her on Friday.  After we got home from her Valentine's Day party, she shared some of her candy with Clay without even hesitating.

1.  Exercise.  I FINALLY have gotten on board with working out!  I'm on a workout team you could say.  But it's working!  I worked out 6 days this past week!   I also started tracking my calorie intake.  I'm down 7 pounds already!  But I'm sure my Crystal getaway helped in putting on the pounds before my start:o)  Either way, I'm feeling MUCH better.  And am noticing a difference!

Kids are up!  We are heading to the store!  Wish us luck!
Enjoy your week!
It's suppose to be 40! Woohoo!

Until next week,
Mrs. Newell
