There are some days where I just feel accomplished.
Even being midway through, today feels like one.
Chores for the most part are done.
(Who am I kidding--there's always something TO do).
Meals are planned.
Grocery shopping is done.
Food prep is almost done.
I've taken a shower and look somewhat presentable.
Boy is napping.
And I'm blogging. Early. Again this week:o)
Other good things about today...
Sun IS shining.
It's quiet in my house.
It's only 2:00.
I can see our grass outside.
My celery plant is really growing.
Veggie stock on the stove smells good.
This week is March:o)
For this moment,
I feel relaxed.
Stress-free.
And happy.
And I'm going with it!
(Because honestly, most days I fret over the million things that need to be done. And worry about getting them done. What mom doesn't?!?!)
Top 10 for the Week:
February 17th, 2014
10. Sickness Here Still. Mal started last Saturday with a runny nose...which developed into a tiny cough. Well, know Clay & I have it. And just this morning Jay said he's feeling he's got it as well. Tired, stuffy head & nose. Not too big of a deal. But just annoying.
9. Dentist. Went to the dentist this week and took Sir Clayton. He was SO good. Never made a peep but I guess it helped he had my phone to entertain him. It seems the back pack of toys/snacks I took him just wasn't good enough. Phones!
8. Cooking Motivation. I'm not sure if it's the sun shining, getting into a workout routine, or I'm finally over the cooking hump. But I'm finally getting back into cooking. Tried a new recipe last week that was great! And I'm trying two more this week...with plans for next week too! Do you ever just get into a rut?!?! I was there--for months. I swear.
7. Tools. Used my tool bag twice this week. SO there Jay! You laughed when I wanted one for Xmas and I use it every week! And I know you do too!:o)
6. Working Out. I started a new plan a few weeks ago, and I'm SO extremely happy to report I've stuck with it. And I'm seeing a difference. I see muscle people--in my legs and shoulders! And I've lost a total of 8 pounds. I'm so pumped! Definite motivation to keep going! Let the toning for summer begin! Or shall I say continue! Come on spring! Forgot to mention that one day this week I had a later morning workout. Which meant the kids were around. During the workout I also had a poopy diaper to change, a cat scratch, and numerous other big "kid" problems. Oh the joys of being a mom.
5. Groceries ALONE. Last week and this week I went to the grocery store ALONE. It is such bliss. True bliss. NO rushing. NO we-can't-get-that. NO dragging kids down aisles. NO chasing kids down aisles. I appreciate this immensely. And I have to give a shout out to our local Family Fare. I've been SO pleased with their fresh produce and organics. At this time, Meijer is just TOO far for me to drive. But I've been really happy with what I can get here--even if it's a little pricier. It's worth it for us! And SO convenient! (They also donated $20 for Mal's Preschool Easter Basket Raffle:o))
4. Conference. Mal had her spring conference this past week. It's still so strange for me to be on the OTHER side of the table. But I love hearing how well she's doing. This year has been HUGE for her. I've seen her grow tremendously! However, she needs to slow down a bit:o) Which I can totally see. Now that she knows the drill, she seems to be speeding through to be the first one done. She was SO shy to hear things about herself. She gets so embarrassed. I think I was kinda like that when I was her age. Right mom?!?!
3. Clayisms. He's obsessed with HOME. He just LOVES being home. And he makes sure to tell me this when we are away or even when we ARE home. It's hilarious. Just now, as I was putting him down for a nap, he must have repeated 10-15 times HOME. Like, "Mom, I'm so excited we are HOME." Yeah buddy, me too. I love home just as much as you do. Clay had a recheck for his eye this week. From last year--his eye has actually improved! We are SO pleased with this. He doesn't have to go back for another 2 years. However, his lazy left eye is a permanent thing. But luckily, he will grow into it, so it won't be as obvious. It was quite interesting keeping a 2 year old entertained for 1 1/2 hours while we waited in a small room. Clayton continues to be ALL boy. We enjoyed the warmer temperatures this week (like 49 one day!! Woohoo!) and played outside quite a bit. With the warmer temperatures, bring more puddles. I'm totally okay with the kids playing in them but NOT drinking them. Yup. That's Clay. How he could even possible think that would be good??? I'm not sure. Will he ever learn???
2. Malloryisms. 100 is big. And in Mal's eyes it's HUGE. She's been obsessing over it lately. 100 minutes. 100 days. 100 grapes. You name it, it's 100. We are still working on counting up that high. She's really close! She's also been obsessing over playing Duck, Duck, Goose. Jay, the kids and I played it a few times this week. It's hilarious to watch. Mal just wants to be it ALL the time. Clay just runs around in circles and says Duck. And Jay just wants to be DONE. I enjoy watching it all. And she's still requesting Christmas music. January was fine. February was rough. But I really don't want to go into March STILL listening to Christmas music.
A few sayings this week:
"What do you know about Washington and Lincoln?" After Monday, President's Day at school. The way she pronounces Abraham is hilarious. I was shocked she remembered.
"We did Jack and Jill's in Gym class." Jumping Jacks.
"Mom was kinda mean today." Referring to the third late night for me without Jay. She was telling Jay this and I overheard her. Well, yeah, no kidding. Sometimes I just need a little break from the littles. LOVE them. But sometimes a break helps. A ton.
1. Sunday Recharge. Slept in, went to the grocery store by myself, had some quiet time to myself. Getting ready for the boy to wake up and for Mal & Jay to get home. No big plans for the rest of the day....but I'm excited to just be with our little family. And did I mention the SUN is shining!
Blessings to you all!
March is HERE!
Spring is around the corner!
(Have you noticed the days getting longer?!?!)
Enjoy your week!
Until next week,
Mrs. Newell
