Top 10 for the Week:
February 3rd, 2014
10. ER Visit. So, I've been experiencing some muscle weakness in my left arm. I would say it's been going on for the last 3 weeks or so. Well, the last week I've been having headaches. And on Saturday night, I had a HORRIBLE one that would not go away. With the combination of the two symptoms and the advice from a few people, I decided to go in. Stroke test, CT done, and they found nothing. What I learned: 1) I need my chiropractor. (8 weeks is TOO long to not see him). 2) NO coffee for me. For awhile. If ever. (this makes me really sad). 3) Checking things out IS okay--it relieves your anxiety. MUCH better this week.
9. Major Blowout. History was made in the Newell Household. Luckily, it happened while Jay was home from lunch:o) Went in to check on Sir Clayton in the play room and he had pooped. A lot. It was on the rug, floor, up his back, down his leg. Pretty much everywhere! In fact, we chose to cut his shirt it was SO bad. Jay wanted to throw his pants away but they were my favorite jeans for him. It was BAD. Oh Clayton--WHEN will you learn to use the potty?!?!?!
8. Ammunition on Floor. It's everywhere. Little pieces of Barbie, figurines, even just the legs of a chair. I find them and stub my toe, step on them, whatever--constantly.
7. Car Seat Troubles. On our way up to drop the kids off to my parents, Clay's car seat broke. When he pulled forward, the lock would not hold so the straps went forward with him. Not wanting to chance anything and after Jay's inspection, we bought a new one (which also happens to be one that was recalled). Kinda crazy that the same week, that very car seat would be recalled but for something different! Finally got ahold of Graco. They are sending us a full refund for the old one and a new strap for the new one we just bought!
6. Driving with Kids. Crazy. Not fun. Enough said.
5. Playing School. Mal's really been into playing school lately. I'm realizing more and more how much she is like me. She even has "that" teacher voice. And she understands the reward system. I was given lots of stickers for my "good behavior." Cracks me up. Clay, he needs a little help;o)
4. Massage! On our weekend away, I had a massage. It had been since I was pregnant with Clayton, which also equals WAY too long! It was awesome. Must do it again SOON.
3. Clayisms. Still not feeling the greatest this week. Sleeping early and laying low--not complaining. Kinda nice to have him low key and not in FULL blast mode all the time. His speech is coming along and he's trying harder and harder every day.
2. Malloryisms. She still continues to amaze me how much compassion and love she has for her little brother. She took it upon herself one morning to work with him on his words. One of my teacher friends gave her a worksheet that had different pictures on it (I think she was suppose to pick the one item that doesn't belong). She decided that this worksheet would be great for helping Clay learn how to say a few words. I watched as they both sprawled out floor and looked at this sheet. Mal would say the word first and then encourage him to say it. He would say it and Mal would beam and shout with pride. Melts a Mommas heart.
A few of her sayings this week:
*"Steady on the roads mom." (She is already a backseat driver).
*"I would never do that to my kids." (I wish I would have written down what she was referring to, because I don't remember now. But I will be tucking this away in my memory bank to use in our future.)
1. Crystal Mountain Getaway. SO great to get away with Jay and my SIL and BIL. We enjoyed dining, relaxing, drinking, talking, cards, massage. It was bliss. Thanks to my mom who manned the kids all by herself!
Well, onto another week folks!
Take care!
Until next week,
Mrs. Newell
