I LOVE Mondays.

I love Mondays. Crazy I know, right? Extremely hard to believe. Trust me, I would have NEVER pictured myself saying this.  But as I was heading to bed last night, I thought to myself, Mondays are pretty great.  Mondays are not-so bad anymore.  AND I don't dread the awful start to the week.  A crazy realization that nearly shocked me into next week!  But I love Mondays now truly:  BECAUSE I AM HOME.

I love Mondays because I have NO place to go.  The only real stop is at the library in the afternoon and my daughter decided yesterday that she didn't want to go.  Instead, we stayed home and enjoyed the outdoors.  But, the library is fun and a WAY COOL place to be on Mondays.

I love Mondays because I can enjoy my Sundays now.  I know this seems strange as well.  But when I can relax on Sunday, it is easier to face Monday.  On Sunday, I have no need to rush and get everything done for the work week.  The laundry can wait, dinners can be planned later, and chores can be forgotten about.  I can sit back and enjoy my husband and kids and Sunday.  So when Monday comes around, I'm now rejuvenated and at ease.

I love Mondays because it's the first day of the week to be with my kids.  The FIRST day where we are by ourselves, enjoying each other, and playing.  Each Monday is new and each Monday I have energy to pull out new things that we haven't done or that take lots of work.  Yesterday, I decided it was time to give the kids a sandbox.  Mallory and I cleared out the area underneath their swing set, went to the lumber yard and bought sand, came back and made a sandbox.  The three of us stayed outside enjoying our new sand spot and I felt extremely good about creating something new for the kids to explore and enjoy.  And I was extremely proud when the sandbox was ALL Mallory could talk about for the day and the first thing she wanted to do this morning (It rained last night, so the sand was wet.  Bummer!).

I love Mondays because I don't care about doing anything but being with my kids.  I have taken this day to truly just sit back and do whatever we want to do for the day.  No housework, errands, or any other annoying tasks are done.  If we feel the need to do something, we do it.  But otherwise, I have made it our day to do NOTHING that is planned.

I love Mondays.  That is that.  I did not know this until yesterday evening.  It was a profound revelation.  And I am extremely ecstatic about Mondays for the next year or so.  Who would have thought???

So, with that being said, I dread Thursdays.
(Why? Maybe my next blog entry will tell you why.)
