As I sit here sipping my StrawBERrita (I was introduced to this new beverage by my Wisconsin friend--SO yummy), I'm starting to relax a bit. These last few days have been rough...more on that next week. But I'm glad to finally be sitting down, enjoying a nice, cold beverage, and FINALLY finishing my Top 10 for the week.
Top 10 for the Week:
10. They're BACK. Ticks. Was only outside for like 45 minutes on Monday, and I found one on Mal's forehead. Attached. So gross. I thought they were gone. UGH.
9. Headache. Since last Friday, I've had them off and on. Not sure why. My chiro is on a much needed vacation...which means, I still have them. Yuck.
8. "A Moment." One day this week, both kids were having "rest" time and I got a little RR in. With my green tea, the rain outside, the quiet....it was PERFECT. And I took in the 10 minutes like it was a whole day:o)
7. Country Living. The kids and I witnessed some crop dusting in the fields around our house. It was such a fun day being outdoors in the cooler weather, watching a plain come so close it gave us goosebumps! The kids enjoyed it immensely.
6. Vehicles. We sold our Trail Blazer in like 20 hours after putting it on Craig's List. I'm still amazed. And puzzled that someone would by a car with so much to be fixed on it! Oh well! It was more than we would have gotten in trading it in! So we will take it!
5. Nana! Came to visit this week for a few days. Kids always love having her. And so do I:o) Means a bit more relaxing and not so much rush. And my laundry gets up-to-date (she LOVES laundry--and honestly, I've been doing at least a load every day so I don't get backed up). Went to Dowagiac to check out a sewing store and popped into a consignment store. Scored a few items for Mal's back to school closet.
4. Claytonisms. During nap time this week, I held Clayton's hand to sleep. Such a small thing. But it makes me feel good that even at TWO he still loves his momma and LOVES me cuddling him. We also went tubing this weekend. HE TUBED. Yes, behind a BOAT. Crazy. I know. But he would have been mad if his sister AND his two boy cousins were able, and he didn't. He LOVED it. Our little dare devil! Watch out Momma!!
3. Malloryisms. We had a play date with friends early this week. On our way over there, we passed by some construction. As I was passing by, I noticed all the men waved at me and gave me HUGE smiles at the same time. I was dumbfounded, but waved back. My daughter commented on me waving. Turns out she waved to the men first. Picture this. Window down, sweet 4 year old waving and smiling to about 10 construction men. Yeah, made me smile. And made me proud that she is understanding the sweet nature of a small gesture.
2. Yard Sale Finds. I'm addicted to thrifting. Seriously, after my WI trip and all those deals, I find it rather annoying and totally not cool to pay for anything FULL price or even half price! I found some great deals this week. I stopped at a yard sale on Friday and scored a few house décor for a $1.00 a piece (like seriously, cute, fun stuff FOR A DOLLAR!!!). Mal picked out some doll house furniture and Clayton insisted on a blue Barbie car. Go figure! Anyways, the three of us had fun and I spent less than $5.00! Then on Saturday we all went to the Flea Market and some yard sales and we found a train table for $5.00!! Great condition and it fits perfect in Clay's room. So, you could say I'm hooked. Bad. If any of you know of any consignment shops or garage sales--let me know!!!! (I have to give a BIG shout out to my WI friend, Sarah, who has totally opened my eyes to the thrifting world. LOVE YOU GIRL.
1. Big Girl Room. My mom was here this week. Which means that I kinda get antsy to do things that I wouldn't normally do on my own. Clean the fridge, paint something, or in this case--rearrange Mal's room to make it a "BIG GIRL ROOM." I started out extremely frustrated because as always, it ends up being a bigger mess in the beginning and the middle...but the end was GREAT!! And I even made a quilted table runner for her room this week:o) SO cute! And I have ideas of things I'd like to put on her walls. I can tell she's extremely proud and I catch her in there playing by herself. I could honestly spend some time in there--especially in the mornings when the sun is shining in. She has the BEST room in the morning. Now on to Clay's room!!!
Well, that's it.
I'm going to finish my drink.
Watch some Master Chef.
And CHILL.
Or sew.
We will see.
Enjoy your week!!!
Until next week,
Mrs. Newell
(And I'm NOT stressing over August being here. No sir. Just chillin'. Trying to squeeze out every last ounce of SUMMER).
